Harvey Newstrom is a recognized security expert, author, lecturer, researcher, and industry analyst. He is certified as a Security Manager, Security Professional, NSA Infosec Assessor, IBM-certified consultant and IBM-trained Project Manager, and Security Analyst. He has degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration.

Mr. Newstrom worked ten years with a military subcontractor where Mr. Newstrom was able to demonstrate hacking techniques to successfully breach military installations. His first such attempt necessitated his extensive military clearances because he was able to get in and view top-secret documents. He helped establish IBM's Security Consulting practice, developing intellectual capital, methodologies, patentable ideas, and training programs. He was the Director of Security Assurance for Fiderus, a $75 million security consulting firm startup. Mr. Newstrom won the first revenue for the company. His division was the first and only operational and profitable division in the first six months. Mr. Newstrom now works in private practice as an independent security consultant for Newstaff, Inc., a company he cofounded in 1995.
